Which curriculum is best?

This is a loaded question. There are many factors in selecting the perfect curriculum for your family: ages, special needs, technology availability and experience, finances, space, schedules, homeschool experience.. However  you choose to school your children, do it with recommendations, much consideration and discussion (even with the children), planning, and a good attitude. There are tons of choices out there, which can be good or bad. Make your informed decision with the help of veteran homeschool families. They can help you close the gap on the mountain before you and let you grow in the meadow you see that appears most enjoyable. After you’ve come to the basic conclusions based on all the factors at play, jump in and go for it, knowing that those with experience are ready to stand with you (and let them – your sanity will thank you).

Why do you Homeschool?

In response to the July 6, 2014 Las Vegas Review-Journal article by Glenn Cook, “All Your Children Belong to Us,” the following Facebook meme appeared:

I homeschool because I have seen the village and I don't want it raising my children
Mr. Cook revealed that the Scottish government plans to appoint an “official state guardian” for every child in Scotland by August of 2016 – that’s this year! Here are other similar articles: “Scottish children don’t need these government spies,” “Child guardian plan faces legal challenge,” and one of the latest articles with videos (including a homeschool “mum”) can be found in “Act Sparks Backlash.”

What about you? Whose “village” do you want to raise your children?

Born with Music

Some homeschoolers totally feel this too. That’s why private music lessons and group classes are so popular among them. Here are some local recommendations:
